Ok did I get your attention? I hope so, because I just wanted to tell you right out of the gate what this blog won’t be about.
I believe in nourishing the body so it can more easily handle anything that may come it’s way (be it toxins, germs, or stress)- not detoxing because you are dirty or full of parasites. Henriette has a great post that explains this well- it’s back from 05 but it still holds true today. I also commented on this some time back on my other blog The Herbalist’s path- Holistic wellness and our kids.
If a ‘representative’ is trying to educate you on the latest detox fad- I invite you to ask them where they received their information. Was it training from the company that sells the product? If it was then perhaps their opinion lacks the appearance of impropriety and their ‘treatment’ should be questioned. Call me cynical- but can I tell you just how extremely tired I am of all the quacks, scammers and money making schemes out there? In this economy (or any other time ) we cannot be throwing our money away on this stuff- when the answer to your problems may be to just change your diet and grow some herbs in your kitchen window.
I don’t do multi-level marketing.
I am not affiliated with a herbal product company (Mountain Rose BULK (not products) herbs does sponsor herbalist path- but no pills or detox gimmicks).
I don’t believe in magic bullets (or pills)- what I do believe in is lifestyle changes and holistic wellness- and herbal remedies to support this.
*Before you rush out to buy a pill or juice you should try to find the ~real~ cause of the problem.
1. Are you getting enough sleep?
2. Are you drinking enough liquids (herbal teas, water- not soda and juice)
3.How is your diet? Do you have food sensitivities/ allergies- are you eating junk food? Too many simple carbs? Enough good protein?
4. Gettting enough vitamin D (sunlight) and minerals?
5. How is your stress level? Can you make some lifestyle changes or are your adrenals shot?
6. Are you getting enough exercise?
7. And finally any unrealistic regimen that asks you to forever give up the things you love like coffee, wine or chocolate is not only unrealistic but is doomed to fail- and is downright unhealthy emotionally! You don’t have to be perfect- trying to do so can be more damaging than living a completely unhealthy lifestyle!
and many more examples, but you get the idea…..
I provide education and try to empower moms to nourish themselves and their family. Here is a great post on Diet Dogma Vs Real Nourishment
I hope that doesn’t sound too harsh- I just like to nip things in the bud (no pun intended) before I receive the tidal wave of emails asking me to sign up for the newest juice fad.
With that I give you the beautiful wild iris that just bloomed in my yard- welcome spring!
