my husband is a ‘baker’ and other musings

by Angie on March 2, 2009

I don’t keep junk food around the house. My husband really bucked this idea when we first got married. His idea of a balanced meal was chips, peanut butter and jelly sandwich, pop and a cookie- no joke! Really- he actually thought every meal had to have this! I had to spread it out, take things out slowly and add healthy things in. Before you know it there was no pop in the house, chips or white bread. We have been married 9 years- I just got to the point to where we agree with this (so I thought). I really made it clear that if we have cookies and things they need to be made from scratch- when I make them they are usually some form of flax flour recipe. Well, I sort of slacked off this week, there was no real ‘snacks’ around. Just some green apples.

So I get up this morning and there is white flour all over the counter, a dirty bowl with remnants of brown sugar – what the???!!!!

He actually went out to the store, bought the ingredients and made Neiman Marcus cookies (without the nuts- add peanut butter chips) after I went to bed! Well, at least he’s baking. My husband is a typical macho man who can’t shop for “exotic foods” like flax- so imagine my surprise when he actually found the ingredients to bake something!  The commercial below reminds me of us- let me know what you think.
