Hi Janice! It is quite a mosaic! My Dad used to give me such a hard time, and I felt bad about it.....for a few years:) I tried so hard to be a 'hard worker' a mindset that my family valued- I wanted that approval.. "see I am working 2 jobs- and competing in Tae Kwon Do, working out daily at the gym, I can do it all! I am doing the best I can!" But really the approval alluded me, until I realized I would never get it. I was not being authentic to myself. Even though sales was something I was good at (really only because I a sincere way about me and really wanted to help people- not cause I was 'tricky') I never felt fulfilled.
When I look back to those retail management days, I want to go up to that girl and give her a big hug. It was me, yet I was so different, it was almost as if I was a different person. So unsure, TRYING so hard to do the right thing and be a good leader in management (yet knowing on a deep level that I wanted so much more for my life~ dreams of travel, college, a family, and a new life).
At 35 I think I am on the road to knowing myself.. this is my journey to be true to myself

I think your list is fabulous! It's like a mosaic, with the things you'd like to be as the highlights. Lists like these are like the bare bones of a story, and make me wonder about the why and when and who and what of them all.

I haven't done many strange ones: I worked in a residential home for mentally disabled people, I ran a petrol station single handed every Saturday for two years when I was at high school, picked berries as a child, sold hot drinks at football matches and the the other paid jobs are all connected with singing, teaching or translating. I did shear goats up a Greek mountain, but that was just to help out.

( But, and I'm proud of this...I should be a blog diagnostician. It was the google friends thing. BGBox is gone! You could maybe reintroduce the categories box now and see if things still stay OK.)

Hi Nadia! So glad you stopped by! Yes, I agree ! At every job I have had the opportunity to meet some really nice people, and have some great experiences that I would not have had otherwise.
I think if I had all the money in the world I would be one of those perpetual students, going to college my entire life! Since I can't afford it I seek out mentors and small affordable workshops- and of course books! I just love learning. I also love teaching. Maybe that was what all those jobs were all about, learning something new (except gas station attendant at 16 LOL) hey here is a crazy thought- maybe it was an anthropology lesson!!!! Such a diverse set of people at all of my jobs- talk about writing material!!!

Hi Angie,

I am so happy that I am not alone in the long list of all kinds of jobs. Here are a couple: one of those make-up people at the department store, data entry, secretary, did some work at a publishing house, did some work at a hospital and there is so much more.

I used to feel bad that I have had all kinds of experiences but then I realized that it all made an impacted and helped me in so many ways. I guess it gave me insight and experience. So yay for that! :)

Congrats on the article too! :)

Thanks Angela! Of course I could have went on and on about the herbalism- but I thought it would be fun to see the other things I have done and some of my other interests - those were just off the top of my head, I have many more.
As far as the jobs go, I didn't enjoy them all but I definitely learned something from each one of them. Really the common theme is, most of my jobs have been working WITH people. Even though I have to have my alone time, I seem to gravitate back toward helping people. It is always a constant balance for me trying to get that cherished alone time and still do my work with people. I think it is when I get overwhelmed that I envy people like Dian- working with the Gorillas in the mist:)
I KNOW you will have your own shop someday!!!

Jack of all-- funny how that works! I have so many people ask me how I got herbalism from Electrical Engineering! Both are passions, both I love-- but they feed different parts of my soul!

Jobs I've had-- babysitter, buss girl/supervisor, waitress, sign language research assistant/interpreter, Electronics technician, electronics salesperson, Customer service rep for a journal publisher, Legal secretary, Training coordinator, quality engineer, lotions and body product manufacturer, PTA secretary, friend, and MOM! (ok, so the last 3 don't actually PAY, but they do give me a great sense of self worth!)

What I would love to do in the future is to get my bath and body products out there-- open a small shop, get my degree in complementary medicine and have a small practice. Leave electronics all together. I love it, and when I'm not doing it, I do miss it-- but I have plenty around the house I can tinker with to keep the obesession at bay!

It's a great feeling knowing that you have such a well rounded knowledge base. I refuse to be intimidated by anything, so I just do as much research and learning as I can and end up with tons of "useless" skills-- until they are needed, then they are priceless!
